1952-64 New York Giants

Frank Gifford arrived in New York in 1952 as a gifted halfback, receiver, and defender. By 1954 he concentrated his efforts on offense, and by 1956 was a big weapon for a team that delivered their first championship since 1938. In 1956 he was voted league MVP, having caught 51 passes for 603 yards. The Giants won 4 more conference championships during his tenure, two before a serious head injury (1958 and 59) and two after his return as a wideout. Gifford was a 7-time Pro Bowl selection at three different positions (defensive back, halfback, and flanker) and was an eight time All-Pro in 1953-59, 1963. He retired after the 1964 season having participated in 136 regular season games, rushing 840 times for 3,609 yards and 34 touchdowns. He also caught 367 passes for 5,434 yards and 43 TD's. Frank had a 92.5 career passer rating, throwing for 823 yards and 14 touchdowns.
